Apple TV+ Close to Deal on Oyelowo Series “Government Cheese”

28 JUNE 2022 - Apple TV+ is on the verge of getting “Government Cheese.” Variety says Apple’s video streaming service is “nearing a pickup order” for the David Oyelowo-led dramedy. Based on a short film of the same name, Variety says:

“Government Cheese” follows Hampton Chambers (Oyelowo), a man recently released from prison who struggles to keep his criminal past at bay and win back his family, all while processing moments of divine intervention that seem to happen with increasing frequency.

Oyelowo you may know from the films Selma, Jack Reacher, and 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Assuming the “Government Cheese” deal happens, it’ll be the actor’s second turn with Apple TV+. “He is also set to appear in the streamer’s series adaptation of Hugh Howey’s post-apocalyptic ‘Wool’ novels,” according to the report.
